Inode Limit Policy

In an ongoing effort to improve server stability and performance, we have added a new inode limit policy.

If your account exceeds more than 50,000 inodes it will automatically be removed from our backup. In other words we will no longer perform backups for your account. We respect the fact that some of you may use scripts that automatically generate cached and/or session files and some of you wish to store more than 50,000 emails - that is perfectly fine with us and certainly not an issue. The only problem here is that we cannot have our backup procedure process your account because it prolongs the entire backup process and adds a significant load to the server.

When the backup process runs into peak hours - server performance is severely degraded, services tend to respond a lot slower resulting in service timeouts and you may also encounter 500/internal server errors due to high system load.

We hope you can appreciate the new policy change. Server stability and performance is ofcourse what we strive for. The better our servers function - the better service we can offer you and your clients. Below is a mini FAQ.

What is an inode?

An inode is a file or directory in a filesystem. Each file or directory is counted as one inode.

How can i tell if i reached the inode limit?

If your account exceeds the inode limit you will find an inode_usage.log file in your logs directory.
